چکیده

Restricted complexity controller design for the active suspension benchmark problem [1] is considered. The control design specifications of the benchmark is firstly recast into a mixed H∞/l1 optimisation problem, which is solved via a convex optimisation approach. A globally optimal Pareto curve is produced via the optimisation. It presents the limits of performance and is served as a reference for restricted complexity controller design. Then, controllers with different complexity are designed via a direct optimisation approach. The performance indices of these controllers are compared with the global Pareto curve. Based on the comparison, the controller with three parameters is determined as the one achieving acceptable performance with lowest complexity. Experimental results on the real system confirm the satisfactory performance achieved by the controller.

Presentation of quasi-linear piecewise selected models simultaneously with designing of bump-less optimal robust controller for nonlinear vibration control of composite plates

The idea of using quasi-linear piecewise models has been established on the decomposition of complicated nonlinear systems, simultaneously designing with local controllers. Since the proper performance and the final system close loop stability are vital in multi-model controllers designing, the main problem in multi-model controllers is the number of the local models and their position not payi...

Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm Optimisation Approach for the Geometrical Design of an Active Noise Control Systems

This paper focuses on the geometrical design of active noise control (ANC) in freefield propagation medium. The development and performance assessment uses genetic optimisation techniques to arrange system components so as to satisfy several performance requirements, such as physical extent of cancellation, controller design restriction and system stability. The ANC system design can be effecti...

Design of fixed-structure controllers with frequency-domain criteria: a multiobjective optimisation approach

An optimisation-based iterative design of fixed-structure controllers with frequencydomain criteria is presented. An interactive multiobjective optimisation procedure is presented, which is based on a direct shaping of the frequency responses, without the need to construct explicit weighting filters. At each iteration, a constrained optimisation problem is formulated in such a way that successi...

Towards enhanced weight selection for (N)MPC via multi-objective optimisation

Having the possibility to systematically evaluate objectives of different nature at the same time is becoming crucial to operate processes, plants and production sites under more sustainable conditions. Most often, this multi-objective nature is tackled by combining all individual objectives into a global Weighted Sum (WS). This approach is widespread because it is easy to use and understand, b...

Multi-objective evolutionary design of robust controllers on the grid

The emerging paradigm of grid computing provides a powerful platform for the solution of complex and computationally expensive problems. An example of this is the multi-objective evolutionary design of robust controllers, where each candidate controller design has to be synthesised and the resulting performance of the compensated system evaluated by computer simulation. This paper introduces a ...
